Background:

At our July 2019 meeting we had the privilege of hearing from our very talented and award-winning local author and illustrator Stephen Michael King.

As he entertained us with his story, he worked on the delightful image featured below, “Three” - the subject of the book of the same name, since published. Stephen very generously donated the work to The Manning Net on that night.

After the Covid-19 induced upheaval of nearly three years, we offered raffle tickets at our early 2022 meetings to find this gift a home, along with a copy of the wonderful book about “Three” - the three legged homeless but happy dog.

The Draw:

The raffle was drawn at our August 2022 gathering. The proceeds totalling $810 were presented to Paul McLeod from “Koalas in Care” - the charity nominated by Stephen.

Stephen’s new book “Koala Ark” was published this year following the devastation of the 2019 and 2020 fires. Koala is the hero of the story, and Stephen is continuing his support of two Koala organisations with proceeds from this book.
